East Sacramento’s Med Center community is nestled against the charming neighborhood of Elmhurst– slightly more modest but equally as calm and pleasant. Anchored by the UC Davis Medical Center, it is bordered by V Street, Stockton Boulevard, 34th Street and 2nd Avenue. The homes, as varied as all of East Sac (bungalows, Tudor, craftsman, ranch, Spanish, and storybook), were built between 1920 and 1940.
The hospital boasts some of the top surgeons in the nation and has been ranked among the nation’s best in research and primary care. It seamlessly coexists with this quaint and quiet neighborhood, helping it thrive with many of its medical professionals living within walking distance.
Residents also benefit from the abundance of coffee shops and restaurants that keep students, staff, and locals nourished. The UC Davis Health System Farmers Market is also a boon for locals. Held from late April through October in Parking Lot 12 at the corner of 45th and Y Streets, it is one of the few evening markets open Thursdays from 3 to 7:30.
